Amy and Jason Lair wanted to know why their son, James, was small and didn’t progress physically like others his age. After years of searching for answers, they found them through the Undiagnosed Diseases Network at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Undiagnosed Diseases Network is a national research network that works to diagnose rare and previously undescribed diseases in patients whose conditions present as medical mysteries. Washington University serves as one of the network’s clinical sites that evaluates patients, such as James.
